Why the Finger Lakes?

Known for it's impressive natural landmarks (a result of glaciers from the Pleistocene Ice Age) and world-class wineries, the Finger Lakes region spans about 100 miles in all.
Oak Harbor is conveniently located on the eastern edge of the region, nestled between the village of Trumansburg and city of Ithaca.
Outdoor enthusiasts will love the plethora of options for hiking, boating, biking and camping as the Finger Lakes region is home to more than 20 State Parks. Among them is the 750-acre Taughannock Falls State Park whose namesake waterfall has a higher peak than Niagara Falls and is located just 1/3 of a mile for Oak Harbor. Four more State Parks are within 30 minutes of Oak Harbor, including Watkins Glen State Park with it's iconic and spellbinding trails.
Juxtaposing it's natural appeal, the region is also a cultural mecca. Up first of course is the world-class wines. Recently named "America's Best Wine Region," the Finger Lakes is home to both traditional and eccentric vintners and home to the nations first wine trail along Cayuga Lake.
With more restaurants per capita than NYC, Ithaca,NY is also home to Ithaca College and Cornell University and just 10 minutes south of Oak Harbor.
Curious minds will rejoice to find many amazing museums and historic landmarks throughout the region including the Corning Museum of Glass, the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art and the National Women's Hall of Fame.
